Shingle grit helps guard the roof from the sun. A lot of lost grit can mean the shingles are worn. Many curled or cracked shingles can mean the same thing. One bad spot may need a repair. Bad spots on many roof slopes may mean you need a new roof.

What can change the cost of a shingle roof?
A new roof calls for us to take off the old shingles. We add a new layer under them and new flashing. Roof size and slope can change the cost. So can extra old layers or bad wood. Your written quote shows the price.
Why does lost shingle grit matter?
The grit helps guard shingles from the sun. A bare spot can wear out fast. It may fail before it leaks. We check how much grit is gone. This helps us see if a repair or new roof makes sense.
Do I need to be home for the shingle roof check?
No. The free roof check takes 45 to 90 minutes. The time for a new roof will vary. It depends on roof size and access. We give you a work plan after the check.
