Roofing Contractor in Tempe - 8 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Tempe-based All Valley Roofing · Phoenix metro ·

BASED IN TEMPEHOME + BUSINESS ROOFSHELP WITH ROOF + SOLAR WORK

The best way to choose a roofing contractor in Tempe is to ask a few specific questions before you sign anything: how to verify the contractor, what the inspection shows, what the written quote covers, and whether the roofer will tell you when you do not need a new roof. Tempe is home base for All Valley Roofing, and these are the questions we think every homeowner should ask, including of us.

Tempe roofs come in every type

Tempe has a wide mix of roofs. Homes near downtown and ASU often have flat or foam roofs. South Tempe has more tile roofs. Shingle roofs show up across the city. Many homes are rentals, where owners need to plan roof work around tenants or a sale.

That variety is why the questions below matter. A roofer who mainly works on one roof type may not be the right fit for another.

1. How do I verify a contractor before I hire them?

Verify any contractor before you hire them. Look up the company, read recent reviews from local homeowners, and confirm you are dealing with the business you think you are. Do that before anyone visits your home.

2. Will I get photos of what you found?

A good inspection shows you what the roofer saw, including spots you cannot see from the ground. Ask whether you will get photos of the roof surface, valleys, openings, and flashing. Our Free Roof Report is a full color PDF with photos and plain notes.

3. Will you tell me if I do not need a new roof?

This question says a lot about a contractor. Roughly half the roofs we check do not need a new roof yet. If yours does not, we will say so, and the report will show why.

4. What does the written quote include?

Ask what is included, what could change the price, and why. On tile roofs, broken tile or bad wood under the old roof can change the job. On flat roofs, drains and roof openings can add work. Your written quote should show the price and explain what drives it.

5. Do you work on my roof type?

Ask directly. All Valley fixes and replaces tile, shingle, foam, and flat roofs, which helps on Tempe homes that mix more than one type, such as tile on the main roof and foam over an added room.

6. What happens with my solar panels?

If panels sit on the roof that needs work, ask who takes them off and puts them back, and who coordinates the two jobs. Ask for panel work and roof work as separate lines in the quote. At All Valley, a solar detach and refit partner handles the panels, and we plan both jobs so you have one point of contact. If your system is leased or on a PPA, ask the panel company about approval early. See solar detach and reset.

7. Can you help with an insurance claim?

Ask what the roofer will and will not do. We take photos and notes on roof damage and can meet your adjuster on site. We do not set or argue the value of your claim. That stays between you and your insurer, and you can use our report to show what we found.

8. Can I keep the report if I hire someone else?

You should be able to. The All Valley report is yours to keep. Share it with another roofer or your insurer. You never have to hire us.

Extra questions for Tempe rental owners

If you own a rental, ask whether the roofer can work around tenants and whether the report can help you plan for a new lease or a sale. A Free Roof Report shows what the roof needs now and what can wait, which helps you budget. See our Tempe roof repair page.

Red lights to watch for

  • Pressure to sign the same day
  • No photos of what was found
  • A quote with no explanation of what could change it
  • A company you cannot verify
